As you slide through your Spring… your fifth, tenth, 30th, perhaps 80th spring of your life. Do you feel that feeling? Do you let yourself still feel that feeling that God placed in all of us? The feeling of renewal, of life being re-born? I recall I was in my teens when I first felt that feeling of being more alive in the spring. Like there was something else driving me through my days.
Waking to birds singing (which I know, on some sleepy mornings can only be annoying), but by the time you are actually up and awake, that song is a song of wonder. The pollen might leave you hacking up a lung at times, or sneezing our your brains (I was hit with an allergy response this past weekend that was more than I had ever felt from this wonderful season… a product of perhaps a different location, and a different level of physical stress, but it was horrible); even though this discomfort may come upon you, if you stop to let yourself enjoy the “feeling” of spring… you will be in step with what I am speaking about.
There is more desire in our bodies to be productive, to create, to do, to build, to encourage and to be encouraged. Spring is a time of true renewal. Re-birth.
This is where we have great opportunity to stop and focus on purpose. Each year I like to write about the power of the new year. The power of being able to “start over”, and to make new plans that we can pursue. Where January is the blueprint month, April and May are the action months. The months where the engine is ready to run, and the power of purpose can be released.
We were all made for a reason, for a purpose. That purpose is perhaps ever changing, it is perhaps multi-faceted to a depth that we will never understand, but there is a purpose. Your skills, and your abilities are only still developing, no matter how many springs you have had. There is one thing that has been made clear to me as I have studied history, and those in it. You are always valuable, and always serving a new possibility.
With that in mind, your potential…. your power, is truly limited by you and you alone. I have often used King David as an example of a man who was considerably blessed, but as I see it, not because he was called to be more blessed than you or I, but rather because he was confident in receiving his blessing. This is because he trusted in God’s blessing, and he trusted that he was to be blessed. All we need is to feel strong in our power, and His might behind us, and through that we can achieve truly great things.
I love knowing that God loves me, and knows who I am and what I am doing. I love feeling the feeling of renewal at spring, and having this energy course through me that can only come from serving a mission. I invite you to stop and take pause. Sit in quiet and think about your life, think about how a deeper trust in your purpose could release you to do more and to be more. Spring is a great time to do it.
