Interesting topic for a Daily Sprout. In a Daily Sprout written prior to the web site hosting all of them, I wrote about a continuing education class where the professor spoke primarily on premonition, and supernatural phenomena. An absolutely interesting topic, as he covered ground from individual premonition, to quantum physics. He reviewed laboratory results for quantum physics studies, and went deep into the literature on premonition.
The topic was really designed to spur consideration of what powers lie beneath the surface. The professor was a believer in the God model, as am I. But left a wide open door for all to consider how there could be true premonition from a scientific model, or a supernatural model…. as well how there could be truths in the world of quantum physics.
One example, a very well known chemical reaction was studied. This reaction was known to be, like any reaction, a scientific reliability. X ml of A reagent. Y ml of B reagent, added through dropper method at the precise temperature, and the reaction took exactly so many seconds. In the study that we reviewed in detail, a specific individual was positioned in front of one reaction, thinking “faster, faster, faster”, and in the study, when certain individuals were placed in front of the reaction, the reaction was faster. Against all standardized tests of this reaction. It was a blind study, where there was a person in front of all reactions, but only certain individuals were “thinking faster”. Crazy? Yeah I think so, but I think it is possible.
In one example of the premonition, a woman woke her husband several times in the night, asking him to check on their baby, as she was having dreams that a light fixture fell from the ceiling onto the crib. After the third such dream, she convinced him to help her move the crib. Of course they were both shocked when they heard the fixture crash from the ceiling early in the AM to land on the floor near the crib.
Have you ever felt like you have “kind of” had a premonition? You thought something bad was going to happen, and it did? The interesting question I remember this professor delving into… what makes it a premonition, not just a gut feeling? His response to that question was detail. The kind of detail that gives you very specific ability to act on the concern. He used an example of an Alpine town school that lost many children to an avalanche. Wildly, the school lost only half their students, as half stayed home on the pleading advice of a child who had dreamt it was going to happen, and believed.
Saturday morning I woke up and told my wife about my dream. I dreamt we were sitting in our back yard, it was a bit different, as our fire pit was further away from the house than the fish pond. We were sitting around the fire pit, when suddenly a black bear climbed up out of the fish pond, where he had been stealthily searching for a meal. He immediately became defensive and I chased him around the pond once and off into the back of our yard. At 3:00pm Saturday afternoon, I was in my kitchen and glanced out the window at my back yard.
I immediately thought, “what is that dog doing in our yard… wait, thats not a dog”. The bear was climbing out of my fish pond, though after a moment of inspection, I think it was only submerged from the shoulders up, searching for a fish (my pond is like a bath tub to him, and the fish number close to 100). I quickly opened the back door onto the deck, then realized I should grab my phone. He was already gone from the pond, so I moved forward cautiously glancing around the hedges to see if I could locate him.
Then I saw him heading towards the back of my yard. He was at the fence, and looked like he was considering how to get over the fence. I had yelled at him at this time, and was approaching him with my most aggressive posture. He must have had concerns over going over the fence, as he turned back towards me, head held low and sheepish. I re-energized my yelling, and he nervously turned around and shot over the fence. I pursued to the fence as he ran through the neighbors yard. Gone.
I chose to write about this today because it brings to question, God? Quantum physics? I believe that everything that we have seen in the quantum world, more solidifies the reality of God. But the more we dig into these two oddities, premonition and quantum physics… the more we need to believe that the natural world that we think we see and know, might just not be complete.
If it is God, then it is cool. If it is not God, then it is cool… because the only thing left to help us answer this mystery, is the power of the human nervous system. Which is, the one thing, that I believe God actually considered before creating. I believe everything else was a finger snap, a moment. Where the nervous system was the masterpiece.
Think through it and enjoy.
