I have been hammered by the “Obama-care” of our world. I think everything about it’s ability to help people find a path towards health, is flawed. I think the plan is horrible from a standpoint of controlling costs. My costs, like those of just about every small business across the country, have increased. Significantly.
If there is one thing I hate, it is being told how to spend my charitable contributions. And the reality is that this health care reform is forcing more of my dollars into the “charitable contribution” of tax money to help others get insurance. Which sounds like a noble place, but I would much rather help others get health reform, and wellness opportunities, than insurance. Not the place I would spend my charity dollars, but I guess it is simply the way the world turns when it comes to use of tax dollars.
So with this, I question, do political agenda have an impact on my health? No, probably not directly, but oh my goodness they impact health in an indirect way. My healthcare expenditures, yes, indeed those are more, for worse insurance benefits, which then leads to the loss of other possible pursuits. I no longer have the ability to spend the same amount of money on the pursuit of health, if my “budget” for healthcare is being robbed by other expenses. But what would you offer as the best solution for somebody who is committed to their health, in the face of rising healthcare expenditures?
I have seen this many times over the last few years, and I continue to see the impact. When an individual loses faith in the healthcare offered, they are forced into a place where their efforts for health matter more. In other words, “If I don’t trust the healthcare system to be there for me in a time of need… then I should do everything I can to stop my potential need of the healthcare system”.
An example… does the trapeze artist try harder to make the grab when they are practicing, with nobody in the stands, and with a nice net underneath them; or when the stands are packed and when the net is gone? Obviously it means more when everything is on the line.
Right now in our health world, everything is on the line for some people. If you have a ridiculous deductible, and even then the out of pocket expenses are shared significantly (say hello to small business owners USA), then it tends to push people to be slower to walk into a doctor’s office. ”I am sure that is nothing, it will go away, its only a small nuisance, and probably isn’t a big deal anyways”
It’s easy to play things off, when you see several hundred dollars flowing out of your account every time you visit a doctors office.
In the presence of “doing nothing”, you need to “do something”. When you are pressed to no longer pursue answers for what might be hampering you, getting in the way of health, then you really need to be on the train of pursuing health.
Ultimately, I think that the worse off we get in the insurance world, the more motivation we all have to get it right in the health world.
Be committed. Your commitments are greater than your feelings in this moment, live by it.
