Spring is in full swing. I have heard many stories in the last week from people talking about how they are sore and hurting from all of the labor that has been done in the back yard, cleaning out the garage, etc. And it is pleasing to me. I love hearing about the soreness of labor, or of activity I should say.
385,000 adjustments into my chiropractic career has given me a very strong realization. As you age. 40+ really. You will be sore in your life no matter what. The only thing that you get to choose, is if it is the soreness of labor, or the soreness of inactivity.
People who don’t move, who sit, who are sedentary, have soreness from weakness. The core musculature is not enough to support the frame, and the neck and shoulders will slump and ache. The low back will collapse on itself increasing disc pressure significantly, causing SI joints to hurt and throb. Activity is necessary for life function, and with it, though soreness will come, so will increased function.
I love this time of year. I love the beauty of the day, the cool mornings, the desire to be active. To get out into the world and live.

Don’t be a sissy. Get out and move. I have a patient who is 77 years old, who square dances three nights in a row every weekend. For HOURS. Come on, get yourselves up out of the chair and move!
