And we will be closed to celebrate, so don’t come to our office!
However, I would love to demonstrate our love for Good Friday, by writing you this ode to Christ. The world is split. Many think Christ is the messiah, the savior of the world. Many think that He is not, and many believe He was a great man.
First, I always find it funny that some people would disagree in His sovereignty, yet still call Him a great man. How could a man who calls Himself God be a great man if He wasn’t God? Sure, He did great things, but to call Him great? It is one of my reasons for having confidence in His deity… yet it is a small one, my greatest reason for belief is the fact that so many others were willing to die for this truth, immediately after His death and resurrection happened. This is really cool.
So, I believe in His deity, thus I take Good Friday as the day it was accomplished. The day that we were given reprieve for our weakness, and we were given an opportunity to overcome our lack of commitment. We were saved.
But. Does being saved grant on the right or privilege to no longer care about the actions taken in life?
I would say it is just the opposite, that the reality of being saved, is that you would take the reality of such a situation extremely serious. So, on this Easter Sunday, I implore you… go to downtown Woodstock for an early service in the amphitheater with Momentum Church…. or head over to my church, Woodstock City Church, or perhaps you prefer pastor Johnny at First Baptist Woodstock.
Whatever you think makes sense to you, I pray that you would be moved to go and get plugged in. In the meantime… don’t show up here on Friday, and not only be blessed… but be a blessing to others this weekend!
Be well and be blessed! Dr. E
